As lockdown was just beginning in the UK, we began a weekly live online Open MIc for all performers who would normally be out on a Saturday night. We thought it would be a way of still experiencing live music even when socially isolating. Ten weeks on and the event is still going strong with more performers than ever and a committed, supportive audience. Performers regularly include singer-songwriters and a variety of vocalists in addition to a rock ‘n roll DJ, a performance poet and musicians playing guitar and other strings such as banjo and ukulele. Our aim is to keep the community spirit of a live open mic very much alive until we can all return to pubs and clubs and enjoy our music together once again.
